This is a project me and a classmate did in University that I am currently improving upon. The robot uses a camera (ESP-CAM) disguised as one of its buttons to capture the user's expression. A CNN trained to recognize "happiness", "sadness", "anger", and "indifference" then determines what emotion is being shown with an accuracy of ~90%. The screen that is the robot's "face" then displays that emotion back to the user.
